Message: I left home (just outside Horam, East
Sussex) at 1950 hrs to
drive the 5 miles to Hailsham to
collect my son from a friends house.
We
live out
in the countryside so it was dark and the road was quiet. There are no
street lights. Some of the road is sheltered by trees, but
as I approached
Hellingly the fields open out. As the sky
line opened up I could not help but
see three large bright
orange lights in a triangle formation to my left. They
were not moving or flashing. I tried looking as I was
driving, they were like
nothing I have seen before.
Eventually I came to a lay by and decided to
pull
in and have a proper look. The lights had not moved and I could not hear
any aircraft noise. At this point I noticed a fourth light
which although
similar to the others remained further
away. After a minute or so I carried on
into Hailsham
town. Buildings and street lights prevented me from seeing the
lights any more.As I was only popping out I had not taken
my phone. When I
reached the friends house I used their
phone to call home to my wife to see if
she could see the
lights from our house. My friend can confirm this call. I
waited on the line whilst my wife went outside to look.
She came back a short
while later. She had not seen the
lights where I had described them, but as she
turned to go
back indoors saw four lights in a diamnod shape probably about a
mile from where I saw them .
Again they were not
moving, nor was there
any sound. By the time I returned
home ( 15 minutes) and by the time my wife had
put the
phone down and gone back outside the lights were also gone.
Since this date I have realised, via BBC
Southern Counties that
there have been similar sightings.
The night was still and clear. These were not
"lanterns"
or helicopters. This sighting was one of those where I "knew" what I
was seeing was not the usual thing you see in the
sky.
