Burnley, Lancs, Moving Towards Direction of Pendle Hill, 26/12/08
8:45 pm
Message: I was walking down Briercliffe Road, Burnley, (approx NW direction), when I spotted what appeared to be, at first, a helicopter light or Chinese lantern. Further study ruled these possibilities.
The object in question was roughly circular in shape and changed colour from bright orange to amber to white and back again at roughly 3 second intervals.
Initially stationary, it then moved in an upsidedown t-shape: Firstly moving down then back up to it's original position before moving at 90 degrees to my left, then to my right, before returning once again to its original position.
Having watched it for at least 10 minutes I lost sight of it due to a tall mill building obscurring my view, ( I was walking almost continually whilst observing, stopping occasionally to confirm my belief it was moving).
The object appeared to be positioned in or around the Pendle Hill area.
It's height, I can't determine due to the dark sky at the time, although it seemed to be at the same height as a helicopter would fly.
It was a fairly clear evening with minimal cloud at the time, outside temp being around 2'C. I wouldn't have given it a second thought but for it's strange movement pattern.
